DiscoJuice fails
At CLARIN.SI we have users from Croatia that would wish to submit an item, but they cannot find their identity provider on the DiscoJuice Log-in. It might be that for some reason there in fact aren't any, but I tried using DiscoJuice to verify this, and found that its behaviour is very, hm, strange. I tried, first, at CLARIN.SI, and then at lindat.mff.cuni.cz, and the behaviour is in both cases the same:
- if you type in Croatia into the "Show providers in", the list of providers does not change at all, as far as I can see, rathen than it becoming empty, which would be the expected behaviour
- if you type in Czech republic into the "Show providers in", the list does change, but in a very strange fashion: there iz Charles on the first place, but then the next IdP from CZ is on the 7th place, before that you have IdPs mostly from the US, then 8th and 9th place are again some other IdPs, then comes again somebody from CZ, then again some other etc. So, those from CZ are not on the top as one would expect, but "scattered somewhere towards the top"
The "Locate me" button does not work either: it does put Jožef Stefan Institute at the top (but this might be because I have previously logged in via this IdP), but in the second place there is one from France, then Germany, then USA, i.e. some random list, even though there are lots of IdPs in Slovenia.
Finally, if I click on DiscoJuice at the foot of the log-in page, I get "Version: 2.1 (2012-02-07 19:18)" which is scary, even more scary is if I click there on "Read more about DiscoJuice" i.e. https://discojuice.org/ it turns out this domain is dead.
So, if DiscoJuice has been discontinued, and does not work properly, is there an alternative?
It could well be that you are aware of this problem, but maybe it is good to have an issue about it here as well, and I couldn't find a previous one.
Hi the same with flags icons. Dieter warned us that discojuice was going to meet its end of life. It's domain seems for sale. Dieter also suggests to use http://discovery.clarin.eu/. EURAC did something. I think this should be fixed.
