Display the versions of an item in way that's easier to navigate
Id rather the version table showed the title instead of the autogenerated version/sequence
follow up of #1160
I think that we should consider going back to the old style of pop-down menu of versions. This table is big and I think 99% of time users don't need to see it so prominently. That being said, it is probably not the highest priority.
- it might be useful to see this table for admins, though, because it shows the creators
- we should probably use the Summary field now that we have it available. Even if we maybe pre-fill some basic info.
- if we go back to the drop-down menu style, it can still be visible like "title", in mouse-over
the Summary field, i saw, can be edited - but that is somewhat tedious. for those coming from DSpace 5, the name/title of the item is usually the most interesting thing to see to be able to identify which (internal) version corresponds to which item. my two cents:
- show the title of an item, maybe date (maybe editor/user for admins...)
- the list of max. 10 items (per page, in case there are so many versions) is not that distracting; (btw. i don't remember anymore: how did this work with the drop-down menu, for example, for UD where you have many many more versions than 10...?)
