Describe The Feature Request Below

I suggest adding a mirror tool in the Image editor's Paint mode to draw symmetrically on the 2D texture view. This would be very convenient for editing or correcting complex areas. Alternatively, add a button to mirror the already painted texture.

Adding a symmetry option to the image editor is not something that can be done in an addon, Adding a button to do a 2D mirror is still possible tho.

Currently I'm still busy with other things, so if you or anyone wants to try to tackle this, feel free to do so. I can assist with the implementation if necessary.
