Tried to write a table in html (in markdown I couldn't get it to render) (last slide in 02_vanilla). While it renders, I would like to get it in present mode to look like it does in editor.

The CSS classes are probably quite different for editor/static (bootstrap) and present (bootstrap/reveal). I don't know if there's a way to skip reveal customization, if it is indeed the problem. I would suggest just changing the present.css to make tables look the way you want.
