I got the same issue. A workaround is restarting this extension after LinuxQQ launching. But it's quite inconvenient

I have a question, if this problem is fixed in sep 2024, why people use ubuntu24.04 today still Suffering from this bug?

@widon1104

I have a question, if this problem is fixed in sep 2024, why people use ubuntu24.04 today still Suffering from this bug?

Well, if you read the related Pull Request #548 it looks like it's more of an issue with the program providing the tray icon rather than with appindicator itself. Obviously in this case it can be fixed by making appindicator's implementation more "tolerant" to such incorrect implementations of 3rd party applications, but from what I'm reading, it seems to be more like a workaround.

Aside from that, open-source projects often take quite a while to get some PRs reviewed, approved, merged and finally released into a stable channel (sometimes on big projects, they go through beta / testing releases too before going to stable).

So it's very normal that the PR is just sitting there since September. Feel free to review it, if you can. Usually the more attention PRs get, the more likely they are getting merged eventually.

For some more details on reasons why stuff may be slow / delayed / unmerged for a while, I recently wrote this https://github.com/ubuntu/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator/issues/573#issuecomment-2763359347 which might give you some more insights.

Edit: in the same thread I've also given some further instructions on installing from a fork... That might be useful to you as well, in case you're struggling with that.

I use your pached extension, it's work ok, but I have a question, When I left click on the qq icon, the menu pop up, I do not know this is correct or not.

Sorry, I am not sure it caused by pr548 or appindicator extension itself.

I use ubuntu24.04, after I install this script and login out, I find sometimes I can not login in, I must restart the system to let me login in the system, I do not know if this patched extension let me not able to login in.

The issue is closed because LinuxQQ has fixed the problem by itself in the latest version
