GNOME Background Apps support

Any chance of this gaining support for apps that currently live in "Background Apps"? It currently takes two presses and two long animations before "Background Apps" can be accessed in GNOME, which is annoying; the feature largely appears to be duplication of AppIndicator's existing functionality, so it would be nice to instead find everything in one place.

Well, I actually wanted to implement the other way around, so make possible to show the appindicators as background apps but maybe this can be easily done per-application

Thanks for the consideration.

I'm personally not at all bothered if there's an option to dump all "Background apps" into the AppIndicator; it would save having to open either System Monitor or the "Background apps" menu at any given moment. I just want it to be easy to keep tabs on running processes at-a-glance.

Further -- though probably out-of-scope -- thinking about it, it would also be cool to see consumed CPU/RAM for within the right-click menu for each individual AppIndicator item (good for hunting down errant, memory-leaking processes, etc.). Or would something like this be more realistically achievable as another GNOME extension?
