Need to lock/unlock desktop for icon to behave properly

This is related to https://github.com/ubuntu/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator/issues/283#issuecomment-1686861758 As I mentioned in that issue, when I locked my desktop, then unlocked, the icon appeared properly.

Now, with another app, before I lock the session, when I click on the icon, nothing happens. When I double-click, the app appears.

When I lock the desktop, then unlock, then single-click on the tray icon, the proper menu appears, as seen in the screenshot.
