Pretty much every app indicator has an icon size smaller than icons from shell extensions such as clipboard, screenshot and so on. This results in inconsistent gaps between icons. Is there a way to normalize size for all icons?

This is extension vs appindicator, right?

Yes

That smaller gap has been introduced on purpose, because other people complained that the gaps were too BIG. Compared to the compound button to the far right with power-off etc:

Might makes sense to make the padding value configurable. On Ubuntu padding:0 looks ugly comparing to other icons in the status area, padding:4 (from this commit) instead fixes the issue.

Note: if someone needs a temporary solution, it's possible to update /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]/appIndicator.js and re-login.
