Swipe up is not sticky when apps scope not full

Open NeoTheThird opened this issue 7 years ago • 7 comments

  • Device: all
  • Channel: devel and rc

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to home screen
  2. Remove enough apps for one row to be empty above the screen
  3. Swipe up from the center of the screen

Expected behavoir

Swipe is "sticky", like when swiping down when already in the highest position or swiping left and right when no other scopes are activated.

Actual behavior

Swipe is responsive like when scrolling through a continuous list

Additional information

This issue has been around before the removal of the Ubuntu Store (#176), but is now a lot more likely to occur, especially on the tablets. It is of course by no means a critical issue, but a rough edge we might want to fix.

But does this even matter? If you've got few enough results so that they all appear on the screen, why would you be able to swipe up to show more empty space? AFAIK, this doesn't work that way in any app on any OS.

@dobey It's far from a critical issue for sure, but more like missing polish. This issue will resolve itself once we kill scopes, though.

I have a similiar, but different issue. Xenial, M10. r52

Steps to reproduce

Go to home screen Have enough apps for them not to all fit in one screen. Swipe down from the center of the screen

Expected behaviour

Swipe should be is "sticky", so that you can view and select the apps which didn't fit in the screen initially.

Actual behaviour

Once you release your finger the screen 'bounces' back up. You can briefly view icons for apps which don't fit in the initial screen but you can't select or open them. Video in case that isn't a clear description - please ignore me wheezing in the background: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2Wau40rxRw.

Additional information

This only happens in portrait mode. In landscape things work as they should.

The behavior @padraic7a describes is considerably more critical, since it can make it impossible to open certain apps in portrait mode...

What do you think @sverzegnassi, should we do something about this? Would it be an option to ship the new dash-replacement in OTA-4 already?

Is this only an issue on M10 in portrait mode? When you swipe up that far, the bounce down should happen (but this looks like unity8-dash thinks the screen is taller than it is, for some reason). I can't see the full device screen in that youtube video from @padraic7a though, so it's hard to say exactly. If you just quickly swipe up, rather than swipe and hold, does it scroll up correctly?

Yep. I don't have other devices so don't know if it affects them at all.

Nope.

I think this should be closed now since scopes is no more for years now :)
