No notifications after update to 2.4.42

Open ruedigerkupper opened this issue 7 years ago • 10 comments

UBPorts on Meizu MX4 Since my last update to v2.4.42 I do not get any notification when new messages arrive. Notifications are enabled in Telegram's options and system settings. I receive notifications from other apps. I tried disabling and reenabling notifications, to no effect.

Hello,

this is a known problem with no clear resolution. Try to:

  • Log off from Telegram on the device (its in the Telegram menu, Accounts, your phone number)
  • Delete the Ubuntu One account from your device and re-create it
  • Start telegram again, register your device

But this does not mean its fixed maybe. A lot of users had this issue starting already under Canonical version. Probably its smth with the push service that goes crazy, we dont know...

Is this still an issue for you?

Yes, it is! I have tried any combination of removing/reinstalling the Telegram app, removing cache and config, but no success. The problem must clearly be located elsewhere. I'd highly appreciate a solution...

ok, now it is working, sorry! after the message arrived, it takes 5-10 seconds to get the notification.. anyway an error is logged as well. so i got the notification, the message (+ meta data) was logged and after it, this error occurs:

2018/03/09 21:53:53.970911 ERROR GetWindowStack call returned org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name com.canonical.Unity.WindowStack was not provided by any .service files

Ok please also keep in mind that when you are inside a conversation with another Telegram client, it will not notify you for messages arriving in this conversation, as you have instantly read the message already.

Still no notifications on my Aquarius E5. Tried all the mentioned suggestions several times, but no luck. When I try to enable notifications in my settings, it tells me to log in to Ubuntu One but nothing happens when I click that. Recently upgrade to Telegram version 2.5.4.0, did not solve it. Any hope there will be a solution for this?
