Text does not follow arc on sunburst

The sunburst chart shows the text perpendicular to the arc. Can this be rotated so that it goes along the arc and changes sizes to fit the size of the segment so that it does not overflow? It looks like adding a textpath element might help: https://css-tricks.com/snippets/svg/curved-text-along-path/

Any progress here? A general method for curving text along paths would be really great.
