Since params are dynamic memory now, prevent overflow by checking memory before setting.

Hello @tablatronix This seems interesting, what are useful pointers to get started with this, with regards to:

• Setting things up
• Testing - Unit testing, testing manually, etc.
• Testing on an actual device
