New document should not be opened upon relaunching app during version upgrade

A new document should not be opened after version update relaunches the app After upgrade (v1.12.3 to v1.12.4) a new document is opened. Also... note... existing window positions are not being preserved across runs of the app during the same transition.

Expected behavior User did not request new document. So new document should not be on the screen after upgrade.
