Multi tabs on Windows/Linux
It is possible to add tab like in Mac OS (multiple file in on app)? #296
Multiple Tabs work only on macos not on windows
+1 This is a very useful feature. Please add it.
This issue is 1 year old and is still not in the app. :/ I need it.
Very much needed :)
I always have a bunch of instances opened. This feature would be really cool! :)
+1!
This is a NECESSARY feature for me. I really don't understand how or why this is a mac only feature. This app uses electron, so it's certainly not a compatibility issue. I love this for markdown, but I'm afraid it's not going to be used for much longer if I can't have more than one file open in the same window.
+1 for Linux <3 Hate my 3-4-5 windows....

stardock groupy can add multi tabs feature on windows. I think it's a wonderful choose for the moment.

Lol, @idleyui, I've already descoped Typora from my daily workflow. Thanks for the idea, but this really needs to see attention from the devs for me to consider using this application. :(
What did you use, as an alternative to Typora?

@exetico Straight VSCode with extensions. Not as good, obviously, but it's honestly more functional than Typora.
This is a killer feature.
Is there any idea on an ETA for Windows/Linux Multi-Tab support? I'm constantly switching between files between notes and writing and its fairly frustrating to both have to search through my folder structure for the requisite file and also need to save and close the file which clears the undo-chain.
Same, I use it for school notes and need it to open the workspace quickly without prompting, i also switch between notes fast, so tabs are a must
I couldn't wait, so i just added CodiMI to my server. It works great! I know it won't fix all needs, but it works great, overall. And it's brilliant to have notes in sync - on my own server...
This was possibly the biggest blocker for using Typora when I initially switched from OneNote. The simple temporary workaround is to enable the auto-save feature.
This way you can simply use file tree in sidebar and switch between files/folders pretty fast. Think of it as having the "tabs" on the side, rather than on the top.
The obvious drawbacks are:
- You can screw up some documents with autosave, but you always have "undo" and if you want to go step further just push your notes on GitLab/GitHub. This you get both version control and backups.
- Controlling everything from the sidebar file-tree is cumbersome if you need to navigate complicated paths to documents. Since I already have all .md files in one folder with a couple of subfolders, it is not a big deal for me. This also makes pushing the files to git simple.
For me personally, this makes the workflow fluent. Plus it finally forced me to organize my notes into one neat folder. Not bad.
edit: Clarification for @DutchPete
@LeBaux : how is that a workaround for having tabs?
Only on mac? Whut?
electron-tabs (https://www.npmjs.com/package/electron-tabs) provides a quick & easy way to add tabs to an Electron app. Shouldn't be too hard to install and combine instances to one window.

Is there any update on this? This is a critical feature for the experience of the app, not just an enhancement.
+1 . A tabs system is the only missing feature to put Typora on the modern editors podium. So, where are the technical barriers ?
@Gaetan-LeGac : who says there are technical barriers?
@DutchPete Maybe the dev, indirectly. I don't see any other reason (including bugs and long term pricing strategy) that would explain the non-implementation of a feature long requested by a large number of users.
@Gaetan-LeGac it may have been long requested, but you don't know all the issues he is currently working on, plus his roadmap for further developing Typora. It's a bit, uhm …… uncouth to decide that the dev now needs to implement this feature.
