Add Support for Tab list SideBar

Open Piping opened this issue 7 years ago • 7 comments

Hi,

Is it possible to add a sidebar that contains all the tabs, all opened files so far?

It is hard to find the tab I want if there are many concurrent opening tabs inside the typora.

Thanks for this awesome markdown editor!

I'm guessing you're asking for something like VS Code here? Although that is a much larger project. https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/getstarted/userinterface

@AlexPasternak Yes, That is it!

I'll just note that this a common capability of editors, regardless of project size. (Just making sure that "that is a much larger project" doesn't imply that it has to be a large project to support this capability.)

macOS Sierra has built-in support for tabs, but for some reason Typora still opens new file with new window.

@FranklinYu check the "Prefer tabs when opening documents" setting in System Preferences > Dock.

@AlexPasternak Indeed! So this issue is only for Windows.

Adding my vote for this. Unless I'm very much mistaken this isn't a "much larger project" thing -- if I have ten tabs open, a way to show the list the ten tabs in a sidebar would be very helpful, especially since the "search across files" function appears to be tied to a directory rather than the list of open files.

e.g. I can't search for the word "foobar" across all open tabs, which is an impediment I'm constantly running into as I use Typora more and more. Sublime Text, VSCode, Drafts, Macdown, Bear... this is a very, very common feature because it is so useful.
