The glyph object uses this internally so it is available in some cases but not all. It needs to be consistent.

- `font.duplicateLayer` should have an option for decomposing components. - `glyph.duplicateLayer` should be added. - `font.insertGlyph` should allow inserting all layers of the glyph, not just the given glyph layer.

"public.default" is not a polite name for scripters.

When the default layer has the default name, and therefore no name, should the scripter get/use None instead of "public.default" when dealing with the default layer name?

This needs to explain the difference between font and glyph layers. It needs to explain how glyph layers are represented. Same for font layers.

This should be done in a new text file here. Or, maybe it should be done in the UFO spec.
