Commonmark conformance

The README claims GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) support. Since GitHub switched to cmark in 2017, does this mean that MDP conforms (or tries to conform) to Commonmark? If not, could you please document the differences (not just the extensions) and whether you consider them to be bugs?
