Is there anything the logs?
They are in `/config/home-assistant.log`. And `config` is where ever you set up `configuration.yaml`. Hopefully it will include a reason why it failed.

I prefer the custom card (hey, I wrote it) but it should be able to work with the standard cards as well. I'll use this issue to track this.
