[Feature Request] Use integrated window for password resets

Open hydazz opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

It would be good if XCreds could spawn a password reset window (rather than opening in the default browser), and grab the new password from the fields, as it does with signing in, and instantly reset the password, without the need to refresh.

I know this might not work with every auth providers, but it should be simple enough to do with entra/azure/microsoft password resets

Hmm. Not sure there is a common way to do this. can you explain a bit more about what "the need to refresh" is?

we have seen issues with the general user, who resets their password via the menu item, thinking it also changes the local password automatically, causing them to instantly forget their old password, and getting locked out of their mac. If there were a way to instantly change the local and online passwords in 1 go, it would save a lot of time.

can you explain a bit more about what "the need to refresh" is?

refresh > Sign In forcing XCreds to grab the new password, rather than waiting for next check

is there a standard password reset window? Or that you could put in a URL that has the password reset type fields and that xcreds could get the password from that? XCreds already has the functionality if the password is marked as requiring to change at the next login. Can you give a sample URL?
