Don't use VirtualBox. It has some driver issues where some screens just appear black. Or at least turn off 3D Acceleration in Display options in your VM's settings dialog.
Yeah I agree with @NoobTracker on the time-stamping part. Please make it 12-hour am-pm time, not the 24-hour mathematician's dream.
