Why are there app trackers in the browser

I have come to use the via browser for its simplicity and privacy friendly nature. Atleast i thought so. Why is Verizon Media asking for meta data every time i open the via app. What functionality does this tracker have? I think an explanation is owed.

I'd rather be happy if this was removed if doesn't have any underlying use. And even if it did, please try to have safer alternative.

What app is that you're using to see trackers?
