Top bar fails with Chrome browser (Chromium)

Open peterweissdk opened this issue 4 years ago • 10 comments

The top bar does not come down when maximizing Chromeum browser. It shows up briefly, and then disappeers again. It works with Firefox and other maximized windows, and only fails with the Chromium browser. I have tried to disable all other extentions, but it did not help. I havn't tried it out under a X11 session. I'm running Arch / Gnome 3.38 / Wayland

Same problem. Though it seems to be more an issue with Chrome (+wayland) The same issue with all Chromium browsers happens when intelihide is enabled both in Dash to Dock and Dash to panel

Manjaro / Gnome 3.38 / Wayland.

It works fine on X11 but it breaks on Wayland.

I think this is related with this bug: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1121782 I've started Chrome with "--use-cmd-decoder=validating --use-gl=desktop" and now the top bar acts normal.

I don't know what i did but it works

UPD:

  1. re-enable the extension after login for normal functionality.
  2. normal functionality until overview or lockscreen (go to first point).

Same problem as others with Chrome on Wayland (other apps are fine): Ubuntu 21.04 running Wayland Chrome 91.0.4472.77

experiencing the same problem with google chrome in fedora 34 + gnome 40 running wayland. Top panel will not stay, it just appear briefly. Had tried with other application:

  1. Nautilus - ok
  2. Firefox v89 - ok
  3. evolution mail client - ok
  4. Libreoffice - ok
  5. Microsoft Edge (beta) - no working

I will test it with xorg and update.

Tested with xorg both google chrome and microsoft edge working as expected.

So it is a wayland compatibility issue.

On my side, the issue is present only when I set as Disable (unselect) the option "Use system title bar and borders" in the Tabs section (on top) from Google Chrome. If you Enable (select) the option "Use system title bar and borders" the extension Hide Top Bar works as expected.

I have the same problem with Visual Studio Code, hope to see this fixed. In visual studio code you can set

"window.titleBarStyle": "native"

In the settings to fix it but would love to use the custom title bar style. Hope to see this fixed soon!

I have this issue as well after upgrading from Fedora 35 to 36.

I've started Chrome with "--use-cmd-decoder=validating --use-gl=desktop" and now the top bar acts normal.

Did not work for me.

Chromes using system tile bar and borders option makes hide top bar work as expected, but unfortunately that's not a good solution since its just ugly and uselessly consumes vertical space.
