Doesn't hide with full screen windows when using two monitors

Open AlejandroC90 opened this issue 7 years ago • 10 comments

The extension works fine when I use the laptop monitor but when I connect an external screen, It doesn't work, full screen windows behind the bar: image When I go to check on gnome tweak, this is what appears: image It's pretty strange, don't know if it is a extension or gnome problem. Antergos(ArchLinux), everything updated.

Same happens here in Fedora 25 (tested with Wayland).

same happens here in Manjaro (Arch Linux).

  • I also see "loading error" as @AlejandroC90 said.
  • The extension seems to work fine if I don't use second display.
  • after connecting second display (using HDMI), top bar doesn't hide anymore.
  • I tried re-install the extension but it didn't effect.

With second display, I tried gnome-shell --replace and got following error message. I hope this will help.

(gnome-shell:4471): Gjs-WARNING **: JS ERROR: Exception in callback for signal: trigger: TypeError: HotCorner is null
PanelVisibilityManager<._updateHotCorner@/home/pankona/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]/panelVisibilityManager.js:258:13

hello!

here's additional information. I hope this will help.

I found that "manual install" resolves this issue. as readme.md introduces the way:

cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/
git clone https://github.com/mlutfy/hidetopbar.git [email protected]
cd [email protected]
make schemas
gnome-shell-extension-tool -e [email protected]
gnome-shell --replace &

on the other hand, after this solution, my browser (firefox) notices that there's update for hide top bar extension at every launching. then, if I allow update, this issue is reproduced.

Hi

This is also happening on my laptop... When I connect a second screen the top bar stops auto-hiding; it sits over maximised windows.

After I disconnect the second screen I can us Alt+F2 and r to reload and the functionality works as expected.

Running Ubuntu 17.04 with GNOME Shell 3.24.2

Hi,

I have this issue too with Ubuntu 17.10. When I connect or disconnect an HDMI monitor, then the bar stays always on. I have to switch off and then on again the extension and then it works OK.

Still exists in Fedora 33. When I switch my primary display to external, I have to restart the extension to regain it's functionallity. Otherwise maximizied windows bars will be covered by top bar.
