buttons go missing when composing a toot and switching apps

Detailed description

Using Tusky 28 on a device with a physical keyboard and strange aspect ratio (not sure if those are contributing factors), I often find if I step outside Tusky to research my response (look up an exact name spelling or a date or the like) when I come back I don't have a "Toot" button. See screenshot.

I can get the button back by enabling the soft keyboard. The button then remains when I rehide the soft keyboard.

Steps to reproduce the problem

1. Start a toot (new or reply)
2. Switch apps
3. Switch back to Tusky

This is extremely weird and has most certainly something to do with the device. I can't reproduce it on an Android 11 emulator with physical keyboard. Does it happen with Tusky 26 also?

The behavior is pretty new. I don't have Tusky 26 installed any more but I don't think it was there.
