long posts become invisible during composition

Open PurryPlatypus opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

When I compose a long post, approaching the 500 char limit, the text becomes invisible, before i reach the char limit. The text Is still there - I can interact with it - but it seems to have become the same colour as the background.

When i double-tap in the text input area, i'm getting highlighted text - that's what i've observed.

EDIT: semantics and description enhancements EDIT2: 1st results, typing a straight text, mentioning Tusky, with the Samsung default predictive on-screen keyboard: failed to reproduce the fault conditions. I might've observed the behaviour while copy&pasting in and out if a post - i don't quite recall. EDIT3: I'll try again, manually typing a long post, without mentioning an account, next. ← still no fault condition. EDIT4: a long post with lots of emoji - fail!

I've failed to reproduce my previous observation: "It's reproducible by deleting a character and typing it again." This previous statement was true - that's what i've observed - but i can't reproduce it.

  • Tusky Version: 24.0 (dark theme, if applicable)

  • Android Version: 8

  • Android Device: Samsung Galaxy S7 - all the updates

  • [ check, "invisible" yields no results ] I searched or browsed the repo’s other issues to ensure this is not a duplicate.

same issue as https://github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/issues/795 tl;dr: It is an Android 8 bug, the alternative would be crashing the app on some inputs.
