Progress bar (spinner) in timeline disappears after first load

Open viviicat opened this issue 3 years ago • 0 comments

This is a very minor visual nitpick.

I believe with a somewhat recent update, something has caused the spinner in the timeline (which appears after tapping "load more") to disappear after displaying once. Instead, the placeholder view is just blank while the timeline loads.

Debugging notes

I tried to debug this issue but unfortunately there are too many subtleties with the timeline rendering for me to figure it out. I tried to force the setting of the ProgressBar to VISIBLE on the click but that didn't seem to work. I think to ease debugging one would want to create a test harness for loading as well as it's quite annoying to keep relaunching from a snapshot and trying to scroll to the loading position. Hopefully someone more acquainted of this system can do a better job at debugging  .

In my tests I did notice that the state of the Placeholder item is persisted across app launches, so it is possible to save the state with the loading spinner visible--at which point it gets stuck. Though I suspect this won't be very commonly seen. Might be good for that to be cleared on app launch too.
