CentOS recipe should mention httpd-tools rpm
The following recipe could stand to be updated or cleaned up
http://tumblr.github.io/collins/recipes.html#centos
- The page walks the user through an install but fails to mention anything in terms of creating credentials which are needed to actually use the interface.
- Users wanting to leverage scripts/gen_passwords.sh will need the htpasswd binary installed. This means they'll need to install the httpd-tools rpm.
Also worth pointing out is that gen_passwords.sh is not included in 1.3.0
At some point, the whole 'daemon' requirement should be purged from that doc since it appears to be gone in master. I suppose it's still baked into 1.3.0 though.
Thank you Adam for reporting this. We do have to improve the documentation. I'll update the docs as part of the release as that will require a significant update.
cool. As someone who has only been looking at Collins for about a day, I've been seeing a number of areas in the documentation that could stand to be improved. I'd love to make myself available to help and am lurking in the IRC channel as windowsrefund.
Entirely agree with you observation about the need for improvement. We'd live any PR on those that we can get. The documentation uses github pages and is in the branch gh-pages
.
I'm not on the IRC channel however @Primer42 (Will) is usually there and you can definitely ping him if required.
daemon is still in documentation as release 1.3 is current .. The user credential part I felt was nicely documented elsewhere, this was just my 5 cent at getting a running system. Feel free to commit updates :) I am moving to centos 7 as well, so I'm guessing there will be new things there as well.
