It looks to me like the model you were using got caught up on the complex action of clicking the chrome icon, holding down the mouse button, and dragging it into the applications folder. You may have more luck instructing it to use the terminal to install homebrew, and then using homebrew to install chrome, as that totally circumvents the complex UI interactions required to install via the disk image.
