The old portal would pre-set the user to the group they have access to without asking them to select if they had only one. The current portal requires a selection, that's a bug.

Just a suggestion. Would it make sense to keep state for "last trust group selected" and use that to set trust group on login? The initial state would be "last trust group selected" == first trust group added to (which accomplishes the goal of the subject of this issue.) It would also minimize the effort of the user on login, when they typically operate in just one of the many trust groups of which they are a member.
