Question? Purpose of baseline methods

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could explain to me the purpose of baseline related methods. It seems like it has no effect in the freezing or traveling of Time via overrides. When would it be suitable to use baseline related methods? I generally stuck to using freeze and travel to satisfy my testing needs.

Curious to know the nature of baseline.
