@bergmark I'll take a closer look at this asap, but in the meantime the most straightforward way to maintain accumulation is to compose decoders directly (without dropping down to cursors)....

@bergmark Does the alternative above work for you? I'd prefer not to expose `decodeAccumulating` to the outside world, but if it's an issue for users we could do it.
