Feature request: support to add and modify translator comments

Open fbobraga opened this issue 9 years ago • 3 comments

The current released version of Virtaal (0.7.1) only shows the existent translator comments: users can't change/remove it (if it no more apply to current situation, for example) and can't add new comments, if needed - both are very common situations (the lack of support for it is what makes many people use Poedit over Virtraal)

I'll go back on 04.05.2015.

Then I will take care of the concern. Best regards Knut Wenzig

Note: This is an automatic reply to your message "[virtaal] Support to add and modify translator comments (# 3213) "sent on 04/26/2015 7:39:04.

This is the only notification that you will receive while this person is absent.

I guess this issue got buried and forgotten, I hope I can ask about this issue again. From all translation programs on Linux, I like Virtaal the most because it is clean and effective. However, I absolutely need the ability to add comments. Given it is already 4 years since this issue was opened (and it was already mentioned in the documentation for 0.7.1, in section 8.5.1 Suggestions Functionality, page 42), is it fair to assume, this is not going to happen?

There seems to be a slight activity in developement according to GitHub, but it would be nice to see some roadmap, project status or anything. Note that I don't want to be demanding here, I would just like to know if I should hold my breath. Thank you!

Thank you for the continued interest and support. Right now development is pretty much stalled. If/when I can get back to development on Virtaal, there are a few very urgent matters that would require attention before this would be on the top of the list. All of that said: I agree that this would be useful!

Hey @friedelwolff, thank you for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. I was using POedit on Windows, but after switching to Linux I tested everything available for this platform and Virtaal has the best workflow. For being relatively old software it still holds up and mostly works. I understand the pitfalls of open-source development and offering free software. Hopefully, Virtaal will return one day!
