Amazon reviews not showing up

Open moshesiegel opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

This seems to be recent and I've replicated this using a new Vultr, DO, EC2, LS install of both current version of Algo and a clean install of Ubuntu running PIVPN + PIhole. when connected via VPN in either Chicago, Atlanta, or NY/NJ and using the new IOS versions of Amazon, reviewer comments no longer display.

In fairness, this is not an Algo issue but seems to be related to Amazon black-holing reviews based on a VPN sourced IP address and this appears to be news as of the last 2 weeks.

Anyone else seeing the same?

Working on home comcast running pihole in the house not working, clean install of Algo on DO IMG_1764 IMG_1763

We've been wondering why we couldn't see Amazon reviews lately! I wouldn't have thought to try dropping the VPN, but sure enough that brings the reviews back. This is very frustrating, especially because I'm paying Amazon EC2 for my AlgoVPN!

Now that I know it’s not just me. The only VPS I hadn’t tried was Azure but for kicks I just build one in the east region and it’s working with Amazon reviews again. Definitely looking like Amazon took a pretty big ban hammer to multiple networks. Pure speculation but probably related to review farming and fakes.

Thanks, Moshe —

I can see reviews again from my EC2 VPN.
