Increment the weekly goal every time it is hit
Thanks for the proposition @samuelnihoul
This is indeed something we are thinking about, even if the specs are not clear for now. We also considered different and complementary alternatives:
- making the goal editable from the back end, instead of automatic
- making the goal automatically fall back to a previous value when it is not reached (to release the "pressure")
- defining a minimum ( and a maximum ? )
Increasing the target goal implies either the community is growing, either the community is stable but the number of contributions per contributor increases. In the second case, if we increase the collective goal let's keep in mind that we put more pressure on the already active users, that's why I think it's good to have a fallback mechanism.
In term of priority, my personal opinion (not representative of the rest of the team), is to first implement personal goals. Inviting users that do 0 comparison to reach their own goal they defined in their settings is also a way to increase the collective effort without inviting the active contributors to contribute more. In any case, having a mechanism allowing us to automatically or manually increase the collective goal as you suggested is also a nice addition.
