Logo proposal
Greetings,
My apologies in case this is not the right channel to address this. I'm a designer in development and an open source enthusiast, who exploring GitHub found your project and decided to propose a logo design for it. It's (of course) totally free and we would be working together to create the design that fits best. In case you agree, you could share some ideas you may have (colours, shapes, etc) so I have something to start with.
Kind regards and keep up the great work!
Thanks for offering your help.
The purpose of tortilla is to Wrap Web APIs. This should be clear from the logo. In terms of color, black and white unless more distinction is really needed in color space. The logo shouldn't distract the user from the documentation. The current logo—presently used for the tortilla organization—is very low quality but conveys the purpose of tortilla:
You could use this as a draft for the logo. It would be very nice to have a version with and without the name 'tortilla', all lowercase.
Good luck!
Hi, so so sorry for the delay, it's been rough these days. Here I have some initial sketches, just wanted to know your opinion and how far/close I am from what you expect the logo to look like.
Greetings, are there any comments about the designs I proposed? @redodo. Let me know whatever thoughts you have, if you want me to add/modify anything or if you didn't like any at all.
Sorry, I completely forgot about this. Thanks for commenting again.
I really like these two:
Because of the cutoff, they got a wrapped and very comfy look to them. They're very adaptable too because of their aspect ratio. I prefer the first one but the second one shows the tortilla a little better. If you still have ideas for improvements on these two, like adding more details (no idea how, kinda hard with two colors), feel free to post them. Otherwise I think the first one will be a really good start for a logo!
I'm not too fond of the font, but that's not really an issue and easily changed.
Do you like any of these fonts? still working on improvements.
@redodo I was trying to generate new useful modifications to the one you liked most but failed miserably. If you have any ideas I will implement them, otherwise, I would like to upload the files through a pull request if you allow me, inside a Logo folder I'd create.
The second font fits the logos best, in my opinion. Is it a free font or do we have the right to use it?
I've tried to make a few modifications to the first version. First, I raised the gear a little, like in your second version, so that the brain can more easily fill in the rest of the gear. Secondly, I made the bottom wrap, just under the gear, a bit more rounded.
Then, I was able to come up with four versions with a soft and sharp top. Version 1 is basically your idea with the above described modifications. Version 2 removes the bottom wrap line, which doesn't look good imo, might as well rename the library to sushi. Version 3 adds a border around the whole thing to unify the logo parts. And version 4 is a cropped version of v3, looks interesting, but doesn't resemble a tortilla.
Thoughts?
