Cannot select audio input if it has the same name as an output

Open haysmike opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Describe the bug When an output and an input have the same name (which is default for some RME devices), the input cannot be selected in the Playback & Audio Settings panel.

Please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Version: v3.5.1 standalone
  • Graphics card and resolution: GTX 1080, 3840x1600

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to Control Panel -> Sound

  2. Rename an output and input so they have the same name by double-clicking or clicking Properties and renaming them: image image

  3. Go to Tooll -> Playback & Audio Settings

  4. Click Init sound input devices

  5. Try to select the second "asdf" (input) in the list

  6. Note that it cannot be selected

  7. Select the first "asdf" (output) in the list

  8. Note that it is selected, but the other "asdf" also appears selected image

Expected behavior The name doesn't matter - I should be able to select either device even if they have the same name.

Screenshots Added inline.

Additional context I was able to work around this by renaming the devices in Control Panel so they have different names. This doesn't seem to work for all users.
