What are future plans for support of Tonik starter theme?

Open msacchetti opened this issue 5 years ago • 4 comments

First off, I am asking this because after 4 years (maybe more?) this is still the best WP starter theme i've ever used - I use it for every project - at least one or two full WP sites each month. Likely 100 sites at this point!

Just curious about your plans for future support of this Tonik system - if you have long term plans or if it's something that you are legacy supporting.

I appreciate all the work you have done and that you are still responsive with support after all these years! Cheers

@msacchetti Woha, that's really impressive number. Thanks!

Unfortunately, as we started to focusing more on React and JavaScript related projects, we don't have any plans for adding new features or enhancing current ones.

That said, any breaking issues will be addressed and code will be maintained when any of the changes in WordPress core will affect it. However, as time passed, I think this boilerplate architecture proved that it is solid for the long term run. As you pointed out, its been 4 years already and no single serious problem showed up 😄

Hey @msacchetti, just curious - do you still use Tonik for your WordPress sites? I am completely new here, but dubious to use a new system that hasn't been updated in 3 years nor plans to be enhanced further.

But it looks great!

Cheers

Yep, no issues for me.

I just submitted a Pull Request #101 for webpack 5 support that fixes some issues and updates packages. Maybe one can audit that or test locally if it works. Then @jedrzejchalubek could merge it.
