Publish extension on open vsx

Open dandyrow opened this issue 5 years ago • 8 comments

Hello. I'm opening this issue to ask if you would consider publishing your extension on the open-vsx marketplace so that those of us using Gentoo, Arch and the vscodium versions of vs code could download and update the extension through the marketplace.

This is an article detailing the process of adding your extension and why the marketplace exists: https://www.eclipse.org/community/eclipse_newsletter/2020/march/1.php

This is related to issue #83

Thank you for your brilliant work creating this extension!

How could we help for that @tomoki1207?

Thanks for the extension anyway!

Having the extension on open-vsx would be awesome.

This step can even be automated using this awesome Github Action by HaaLeo. This action can automatically publish to open-vsx as well as the microsoft marketplace at the same time, saving you time publishing.

I'd love to see this extension in Open VSX. We at @coder love this extension for onboarding and assessing candidates in our product. The article @dandyrow posted says that if the maintainer is not available to do this, a community member can open a PR here: https://github.com/open-vsx/publish-extensions.

I'm happy to do this!

Hi there everyone! If someone wants to contribute a PR, it should be pretty straight-forward, but there needs to be some setup done by the publisher, so it is important that @tomoki1207 is okay with publishing.

We would really love to have the extension published on OpenVSX. It is a very big one and that means it is currently unavailable to thousands of users in places like VSCodium, Gitpod or Coder, because there the Microsoft Marketplace cannot be used.

I would love to assist with the publishing or answer any questions about OpenVSX - feel free to ping me!

Me and the team also made a pretty easy-to-follow guide on publishing.

@vapurrmaid I will merge the PR for https://github.com/open-vsx/publish-extensions now, but I would like to see it be just a temporary solution, thanks for the contribution!

Thanks @filiptronicek for the context and support on everything 🙌🏻 , exciting for all the developers that depend on remote solutions ☁️
