Spread Mode default configuration not work

I set the Spread Mode to Odd by default in the plugin configuration. However, when I opened a new PDF file, it initially displayed a dual column layout and then flashed back to a single column layout. This configuration seemed to have been overwritten somewhere and ultimately did not work.
