I think the answer to how to store complicated opening hours is not to store opening hours in OSM because it's insane to store something as volatile and non-geo related...
Well you might as well get rid of it altogether because any length limit in postgres is entirely arbitrary - the storage for `char(N)`, `varchar(N)` and `text` is all identical...
So mysql really did have limits - it doesn't have default unlimited text fields like postgres. So there had to be some limit and I think as much as anything...
