Better Gnome Shell Integration

Open thmo opened this issue 8 years ago • 3 comments

When using Gnome Shell, Tomboy is only accessible via the icon in the message area that is not always visible.

It would be nice if there was a better integration, e.g. the icon could be visible in the top bar; or even better, Tomboy could have an application menu (see http://live.gnome.org/ThreePointThree/Features/ApplicationMenu).

(This used to be https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663834.)

Yeah, I can see how inconvenient this is, definitely worth inplementing. Thanks for submitting the request here.

Ouch, actually as I've read this - it seems to be a GTK+ 3.x feature only, Tomboy is yet on 2.x and it would take a while to move it to 3.x (if at all, there are some roadblocks to that aside from resourcing, see #27).

So don't hold your breath, alas it would take some time to get implemented. Though if anyone knows a way for GTK+ 2.x app to integrate with Gnome Shell - I'm all ears.

You could use libappindicator. Together with this extension it will result in a menu in the top bar.
