This cannot be merged as it's reverting the already committed languages files for Danish, Italian and French.

@tomasnorre As TYPO3 v10.4 always uses the new translation server you can deactivate the PRs from Crowdin and remove the translated sources then from the repository.

Can you link to this somewhere? This is new information for me.

Sure: "Crowdin is used since TYPO3 10 by default." https://docs.typo3.org/m/typo3/reference-coreapi/10.4/en-us/ApiOverview/Internationalization/TranslationServer/Crowdin.html

And: https://docs.typo3.org/m/typo3/reference-coreapi/10.4/en-us/ApiOverview/Internationalization/TranslationServer/Crowdin/Workflow.html

I have read through the links again. To me it doesn't sound like the process have changed. It's true that I can be downloaded from the backend, but I understand that as only for the backend and not for extensions as well.

It is also for extensions. I have some extensions with compatibility TYPO3 v10+, which deliver only the default (English) translation files. The translations to other languages are delivered by the translation server. So there is no need to add the translations to the extension. This has advantages:

  • You can deactivate the PRs from Crowdin and don't have to handle them anymore in your project.
  • Translations are independent from a release. So if someone, for example, adds Slovenian translations, they are just available after approval (they are already when fetching via translation server).
  • The translations fetched from translation server overrules the local translations (if available), so the delivered translations files are only taken into account when a installation do not have translations fetched (and so also the core is not translated).

See also the workflow:

https://docs.typo3.org/m/typo3/reference-coreapi/master/en-us/ApiOverview/Internationalization/TranslationServer/Crowdin/Workflow.html

which says: "The sources in English are maintained in the project itself."

You can check the current translation status here: https://localize.typo3.org/xliff/status.html
