In-Browser Editng Hangs on Hooks

When editing in a browser and committing the change, the commit dialog box just sits there with the loading spinner if you do not meet the requirements of the hook. The only way to get out of it is to cancel. If you meet the requirements, it works just fine.

In checking the Bitbucket logs, I see the message "hook 'pre-receive-repository-hook' vetoed the file-edit request" but nothing is actually communicated back to the user in the UI to say what the problem is,
