OS X requires dsdt/HDEF for onboard audio. Did not mention the motherboard, no suggestions.

Ok, motherboard is a Gigabyte model GA-Z87MX-D3H (http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4490#ov) The audio chip is a ALC892. I am using latest clover bootloader and the OS is the El Capitan.

The codec is disabled, verify BIOS/HD Audio/Enabled.

@c0h1b4 can you please post your solution here, if you found one? I am stuck at a similar point

The same problem on Gigabyte model GA-X150M-PLUS WS (rev. 1.0) (http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5705); Using latest clover and El Capitan 10.11.4 .
