Windows rebranding colors feedback
💻 Environment
Platform: Windows
📒 Description
Some feedback from the users regarding the new rebranding of the Windows app:
-
Not enough contrast between pink and white in the application icon:
.
Proposed solution: Pink icon should use a dark color inside instead of white color.
TODO: Should the dark color be an actual black or ~#2C1338~ #180A1E? -
Start button color and icon color are both pink but different from each other. This is as designed, but it can be annoying for some users. No proposed solution so far.
-
Hover/pressed states of Start/Stop button do not look good. Proposed solution: Instead of applying 10%/20% black on hover/press, apply 10%/20% of a new "black"
Toggl.BlackColor(~#2C1338~ #180A1E).
Perhaps a better solution for both 1 and 2:
Use Toggl.AccentColor for the icon itself. This way the contrast will be increased and there will be no discrepancy between it and the Start button.
MacOS does not look ideal as well. The button for stopping the current entry is pinkish/skin-colored
the button for previous entries is pink

Also, the main button to start a new entry is again, pink.
Generally, the contrast between black and "dark purple" is far too low:

I'm not a fan in general of the "dark purple", but I guess it is here to stay... however, interestingly, the color is different than on the website (which I prefer).
New colors are ugly (Windows App, Android). It should be used for font, logo but not for state indicator - in mini timer: red = running, green = stopped. It was like traffic lights, now the color sheme missing any logical reasons.
Why Light color theme has white app background with wite/grey time entries but time entries in Dark theme has more or less purple tint? Please change that or add clean dark theme as it suppose to be without color tint. And of course red/green start/stop buttons for state indication (for all Toggl apps)!
I personally think the purple color was a great choice, it matches really well with the project colors. However, there definitely needs to be a pure black option if this is the default. The contrast is sometimes worse than it was before so I can see why not everyone would like it
I have a problem with the pink color of the dock button (MacOS). I have a slight colourblindness, and the difference between the old light-grey and current link is too small. I often mistake it for not running. The white with the pink also does not give a good contrast so the button is not great to look at.
Also the contrast in the app itself is off. The difference between the black background, dark purple elements and the hover colour is simply not big enough. It makes it hard to see things in once glance.
I would prefer to have a choice in themes so you can pick whatever colour scheme works best for you.
I want to see greyscale black without pink tint in MacOs app.
MacOs app looks very different from system and other app. this is very annoying
