Responsive sizing for pagination bar based on container

Would it be possible for the pagination bar to resize based on the container it is in. So, when viewing on a 'small' screen, the pagination bar would show the number of pages that can fit in the width - e.g 10 pages, whereas on a 'large' screen, the pagination bar would show more, since there is more width, e.g. 20 pages.

I cannot think of an easy clean way to achieve that. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears.
