Feature request: Force sync behaviour
Currently the combination of batteryFu with the app podlisten its not that well. In my case podlisten should only sync every week and not if I turn on WiFi by using mode toggling. I can imagine only some solutions.
- A white or better black list of apps to sync (maybe for the "force sync")
- Mode toggling without force sync command
As I might misunderstand the force sync option, that I don't want to turn off (good for putting mails and messages into the outgoing state). Could you explain it to me, if that's the case. (Would be helpful if I find the time to translate your app to German)
Did you try turning off the "Force sync" option in the settings? What it does is to force all accounts to sync (even disabled ones, I think). It should be perfectly fine to turn that off and let each sync adapter determine when to run it's own sync.
I created and enabled that option by default because many users didn't understand that sometimes some sync adapters won't sync (depending on their settings), and would complain about it.
@Klimmbimmel :
what do you think about the feature request #34 relating to "custom connect times"? Could this be a partial solution for you? I think suppressing the sync for special apps when data connection is switched on could be beyond the function of BatteryFu.
But if you could specify "custom connect times" you could reduce the syncs and the resulting data and battery consumption to a minimum.
@tobykurien :
If a new feather like "custom connect times" would be a lot of work an alternative could be to add more "Night mode"-time-ranges with custom "Night mode start"-times and "Night mode stop"-times (I guess round about 10 custom offline-data-time-ranges would be enough for a "day and night"-setup.) Then you could enable the already implemented option "Night mode only" and you have a fully customized data on/off frequency.
@toxtox unfortunately both the custom connect times and multiple night-mode times would require a significant re-write of the app, since it was never designed for that.
Sorry, after my smartphone was gone, I missed this one:
In general I do like custom values. As I understand your well-chosen restrictions, you could add a informative warning to keep the user from choosing to fast toogling and maybe also disallow to fast toogling.
