Resuming development
we all miss you 💔
I'll be wrapping up my current project soon, and I'm thinking about going back to a music player project next. Could be SpMp, but would likely be a new project as the existing codebase is not fun to work with (I made SpMp as my first proper Kotlin/Android project).
I've been doing a ton of de-googling lately and I have some ideas for a project that plays from YouTube music, but lets you gradually build up a local library.
the most feature i valued in your app was the sync between spmp and you youtube music... it gave me a piece of mind that in the event of the streaming app development is stoped or paused like in current status of spmp... all my efforts building my library is not gone. this have happened with me many time, i build my playlist, my favorite artist, my liked songs...etc. (which we all know takes a tremendous effort to build) and then suddenly one day the app stops working and all that time and effort is gone 🤯. However, in the case of spmp, even if the development is paused, because of the sync feature, returning to the app is seamless and nothing is lost. even if you make a rewrite of the app (which i support) one click on the sync button and all my library is back . Nice
lastly... i can not think of a better way of having the ability to build a local library which is safe at my device while synced with youtube music and then easily resynced to my other devices ... that would be just amazing.
PS: many of the streaming apps are back working again... i wish if you'll make spmp work again before you start the rewrite.... so at least we have something to enjoy music with during the rewrite period... in which i will gladly be free for any testing you want.
