doesnt work on remote machines

Currently, if I open a tmux session on my local machine and ssh to a remote server, the status is not changed with respect to the availability of internet on the remote server. I guess since the tmux is hosted on my local machine, it doesn't get the information from the remote server currently in focus. Is there a way to achieve this?
