After upgrade from v0.24 to v0.35.0.0 adding a dock does not work anymore

I just updated from version 0.24 without removing the settings.

First thing I noticed: the layout of the widgets is not the same as it used to be. Trying to add a new widget leads to this traceback:

I suppose the config file format has been changed and the migration to the new version introduced some incompatibility.
